چکیده

Abstract Introduction Sleep disturbances commonly precede or precipitate psychotic disorders. The primary goals of the present study are to compare self-reports sleep quality and chronotype with objective measurements investigate their relations clinical symptoms psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) in early course, minimally treated patients disorders (PSY), young, first-degree relatives (familial high risk: FHR) matched controls. Methods Seventy-three participants (13-35 yrs, n(PSY)=19, n(Controls)=30, n(FHR)=24) completed self-report measures (PSQI), (MEQ) PLEs (Chapman Scales). were objectively measured actigraphy (average duration measurements: 12 days). Psychosis FHR groups rated on Positive Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) by an expert clinician. Results PSQI was significantly different between (F(2,67)= 11.8, p< .001), this reflected that compared controls, both psychosis (p<.001) (p=002) had worse self-reported quality. For quality, we observed a main effect day-to-day variability total time (F(2,46)= 3.24, p=.048) , higher PSY than controls (p= .038). Symptom severity correlated (r=.31, p=.047), reflecting those more disturbances. entire sample also (r=.41, p<.001). We did not observe any correlations symptoms. There no group differences (subjective objective). Chronotype correlate PLEs. Conclusion While early-course report significant disturbances, corroborate only for patient group. Further, symptom subjective These findings highlight importance assessment population line our polysomnography work reveals isolated deficit NREM context similar architecture psychosis. Schizotypal Traits among Patients with Schizophrenia, Their Non-Psychotic First-Degree Relatives, and Normal Controls

Evidence has suggested that risk for schizophrenia is likely to occur in non-psychotic first-degree relatives of patients with schizophrenia. On the other hand, schizotypal personality disorder is genetically related to schizophrenia. The aim of this study was to compare schizotypal traits (i.e., positive schizotypy, negative schizotypy, cognitive disorganization, and impulsive nonconformity) a...

Local gyrification index in probands with psychotic disorders and their first-degree relatives.

BACKGROUND Psychotic disorders are characterized by aberrant neural connectivity. Alterations in gyrification, the pattern and degree of cortical folding, may be related to the early development of connectivity. Past gyrification studies have relatively small sample sizes, yield mixed results for schizophrenia, and are scant for psychotic bipolar and schizoaffective (SZA) disorders and for rela...

Sleep spindle deficits in antipsychotic-naïve early course schizophrenia and in non-psychotic first-degree relatives

INTRODUCTION Chronic medicated patients with schizophrenia have marked reductions in sleep spindle activity and a correlated deficit in sleep-dependent memory consolidation. Using archival data, we investigated whether antipsychotic-naïve early course patients with schizophrenia and young non-psychotic first-degree relatives of patients with schizophrenia also show reduced sleep spindle activit...

Increased cardiometabolic dysfunction in first-degree relatives of patients with psychotic disorders.

INTRODUCTION Elevated prevalence of comorbid cardio-vascular and metabolic dysfunction (CMD) is consistently reported in patients with severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia (SZ), schizoaffective (SZA) and bipolar disorder (BP-P). Since both psychosis and CMD are substantively heritable in nature, we attempted to investigate the occurrence of CMD disorders in first-degree relatives of...
